Forensic SERVICES

Our team at Courageous Minds have specialist training in forensic mental health. We understand the difficulties and additional barriers presented for individuals involved in the court system (children, family or other), having current criminal matters or a forensic history.  The team demonstrates experience working with individuals with a forensic history and delivering individual and group-based programs in the community and through the justice system.​

Treating clinicians at Courageous Minds are trained experienced facilitators in the following types of groups: 

  • Men's Behaviour Change

  • Adolescent Family Violence Program

  • Violent & Sexual Intervention Programs

  • Substance and Offending programs

  • General Offending Behaviour progra​ms

The therapeutic approaches commonly used at Courageous Minds are all evidence based and include:​​

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA)

We offer treatment in a variety of areas for individuals with a forensic history or involved in the court system including:

  • Forensic Assessment, Treatment reports and letters to the court.

  • Managing relationships and co-parenting after divorce

  • Counselling and support during Divorce and/or court matters

  • Anger management

  • Family violence related matters including adolescent family violence

  • Drug and alcohol and addiction services

  • Complying with Child Protection regarding mental health/anger management

  • Making positive behaviour changes/reconnecting with children after separation or for child access

  • Emotional regulation, managing stress and coping

  • Delivery of individual and/or group-based offence specific programs

  • Adjusting to community standards and reintegration post imprisonment

  • Pornography and sex addiction

  • Relationships, sex and intimacy
